The career I'm writing about is Obstetrician which is in branch of medicine that deals with the care of women during pregnancy, childbirth and the period folllowing delivery.
Here I will discuss:
- History and Background of My Career: Obstetrics has been a relevant job in the United States since the 19th Century. A famous historical person who had this career was a Scottish obstetrics his Name was William Smellie, He practiced medicine before getting a license and he later enrolled in College recieving his M.D degree.
- Requirements to Obtain this Career: In order for me to obtain this career I will have to first Earn a Bachelors Degree, Then I will have to pass the (MCAT) Exam which stands for Medical College Admission Test which will determine if I go on to Medicial school. Next I have to attend Medical school for 4 years which I will later qualify for a (USMLE) which is the United States Medicial Licensing Examination. Then i will have to participate in a Residency for 4 years. Some colleges that offer this type of career For example: Emory University School of Medicine, Ohio State University, and Loyola University Medical Center etc.
- Job Position Description: The daily duties for this career will be UltraSounds, Check ups, Delivery Room, Cleaning the baby after birth, Feeding the baby after, or Caring for the woman before she give birth. Average salary for Obstetrician is $220,000.
- Job Reflection and Outlook: Places that offer positions for this career type is Emory Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia (which is where I want to work and live). This career will help benefit society as a whole because it helps deal with child birth and knowing that one day I will be in that field taking care of a woman and her baby and making sure they are doing fine.
